- Erica is SUPER lazy. As an analogue to her real life counterpart Erich Hartmann, Erica embodies everything lazy. When she is in the air, she is hyper focused and keen sensed. However, as soon as she gets on land, it's almost too much effort to lift a finger. Erica likes to sleep in, as well as eat a lot of sweets.

- She has a middle sister relationship with Trude and Minna, being the three Karslanders of note. The pair treat her as a sibling in various forms, one strict, one motherly almost. She also has a rivalry with Hanna which Erica barely acknowledges.

- Her sister Ursula is a Striker researcher, and provided the team with the Jet Striker in Season 2. Barkhorn worked her way to exhaustion with it, and Erica made sure to look after her, even when she was potato peeling after that. She encountered Ursula again with the Twin-Jet, and saved the both of them when it malfunctioned.

- Erica is very kind, but she is also mischievous. Based on the real life incident, she stole Lucchini's panties when she lost hers, and the whole base was in an uproar. When presented with a medal, the girls discovered she was wearing Lucchini's underwear. This was mimicked from the real life incident of Erich Hartmann accidentally stealing Hitler's hat, and then being told "nice hat, it looks familiar" by the Furher himself during an award ceremony.

- Erica is basically a giant troll. And she is also Karsland's Ultra Ace, having over 300 Neuroi kills during the war. She is the top ace in Strike Witch History, Minna and Barkhorn and Hanna being some of the other top seven of this era.

- Erica is also a Witch, a spellcaster with a ability called Sturm which is a miniature lightning tornado that she can generate around herself, or in her hands.


History:
Erica Hartman is a member of the Karsland Luftwaffe, and a proud member of the Joint Strike Witches Unit the 501st. When she was younger, she enlisted into the Karsland Military and made firends with Hanna-Justina Marseille, a friend who she has been fairly close to on an on and off thing for years. Later on, she met Trude Barkhorn, and then after that Minna-Dietinde Wilcke before the second Neuroi War broke out. During their time together, these three served in the major offensives on European soil, losing Karsland and Gallia all together to the Neuroi.

Stationed at the Britannia outpost nearest the Gallia border, Erica serves her time enlisted, flying sorties and generally slacking off. She also splits her time between eating, sleeping, and generally being the older sister-slash-pest to others. Despite this, she also is proud of Yoshika Miyafuji for saving Trude when she was shot down.

Erica served with the 501st until Yoshika went AWOL, forcing her and the other Karslanders to pretend to return to their homeland of Neue Karsland, where they spied on the actions of the team who had created the Warlock, an anti-Neuroi weapon armed with a Neuroi Core. In the end, she served with the rest of the witches to prevent the Warlock from destroying Britannia, and liberating Gallia at the same time.

She was stationed later on an outpost near the Rormagna Border when she, Trude and Minna came running when the rest of the 501st reunited. Promoted once more, Erica continued to fight with the girls, until the final offensive against the Super Hive commenced. There, she joined the rest of them, making sure to fight as hard as she could when things looked bad, clearing the way between the Yamato and Miyafuji.

After the 501st was disbanded once more with the liberation of Romagna, she, along with Trude, Minna and a newcomer witch named Heidemarie W. Schnaufer at a base closer to the Rinne. It is here that her sister Ursula, returned for the second time and produced a pair of Jet Strikers, designed to alleviate the strain of magic. Being corralled by her twin sister into flying with her, the second Duel Jet Striker tests ended in disaster. It was shortly after this that they discovered a underground Neuroi and new types emerging from the ground, and she and the rest of the 501st plus their newcomers, fight the flying underground Neuroi Ship and the Strike Witches are reformed once more.


Personality:
Hailing from Karsland, Erica is the sixteen year old Ultra Ace of the Strike Witches. Highly decorated, she is a keen observer in battle, and has racked up over 300 kills in combat by the middle of Strike Witches Season 1. However that's just the tip of Erica's personality. While she is extremely effective in the air, capable of fighting and scoring hits and kills within seconds, she is a extremely laid back person while on land.

On land its' like her personality does a complete 180 as she goes from focused to completely lazy. Slack and carefree, she doesn't train that much at all, sleeps in repeatedly, enjoys sweet things, and would rather spend the day napping than actually having to get up. Her room is a good indication of her personality, being a pile of trash, used and fresh clothing, outfits, books, and other bric-a-brac including pots and pans and teddy bears. She is a extremely sloppy person and would rather just sleep in her own junk than actually do any cleaning up. When she tries to clean up, she just proclaims 'no, later' and falls over to take another nap.

Erica however is also concerned with the well being of her friends and teammates, proper hygiene and safety. She isn't as concerned about cleanliness as Shirley would be, but she enjoys the huge baths that are provided for the 501st communal areas. Erica is able to keep her composure in times of crisis and insanity, but has been known to start crazy things such as stealing Lucchini's panties when she misplaces her own, much to Trude's complete embarrassment.

Erica can become driven when she wants a cause to be filled, such as competing against her old rival from Africa for Trude's little sister Chris, or moments when situations turn dire. She is a soldier after all, with the discipline to go with it, but she prefers to stay relaxed instead of having to be by the book like her twin sister Ursula. Ursula and Erica are like two sides of a coin, Erica being messy and sloppy with little care for day to day things beyond eating and sleeping in, and Ursula is a scientist who is neat, prim and proper with formal speech.

Despite this, Erica's often seen with a grin on her face as she tends to deal with her situation with aplomb. She's not bothered by any racial profiling or any sexist tendencies either, and has a best friend relationship with Minna and Trude, and the rest of the 501st. She's the older sibling you want to go to, when things get bad. Just don't expect her to wake up unless you can pry her out with something sweet or food.

Gem Considerations:

Honey Calcite! As a inherently lazy person, Erica might have trouble getting motivated in the morning. Having laziness as a direct repercussion of her mental and physical stress of flying more than any other Witch on the team, Erica needs the time to rejuvinate and become more creative and balanced with her desires and goals. Eventually moving into a less lazy person, but enhancing her relationships with others and her own self confidence. She is already a well balanced thinker, but also tends to be bored with peaceful life. I'd like to see her generate more reasons to get up for the day, other than someone pulling her out of bed every morning. And more shenanigans in a way that makes her more hilarious as time goes on.

Her powers as of now are fairly strong, but well within the normal ranges of Cosmos power cap. The ability to fly, as well as create the weapons she needs would be useful, if tiresome. It's a power she'd rather just handwave and poof, make something. Basically getting more power is fine for her, but she'd rather just use her abilities to make chocolate and sweets.
